Travelogue | Italy

It's been almost 2 months since I'm back from my family trip and I'm finally getting the first post out. We usually travel during CNY but this year it was different. We stayed in SG for CNY and decided to go for our trip in May, at the same time, celebrating mum's birthday & mother's day!!!

I've always love free and easy trip but I'll have to take care of my parents so we went for a tour instead. Booked our Europe tour and off we go!!!

First stop - Rome - The Colosseum

Then off to visit St. Peter's Basilica at Vatican City which didn't get to go in 'cause the queue was really long and the tour guide don't advise us to queue. So they brought us to Piazza Navona, one of the loveliest and most popular squares in Rome. "quoted by the guide"

Piazza Navona

Fontana del Moro

Created by Giacomo della Porta and perfected by Bernini, who later added the dolphins, the Fontana del Moro was initially known as the “Seashell Fountain.” This fountain is located on the southern side of the square.

The square is flanked by restaurants and terraces, lovely atmosphere when I was there. It 's a lively area where you can enjoy performances of different street artists, such as magicians and dancers.

Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi, known as Fountain of the Four Rivers, it was designed in 1651 by Gian Lorenzo Bernini for Pope Innocent X whose family palace, the Palazzo Pamphili, faced onto the piazza as did the church of Sant'Agnese in Agone of which Innocent was the sponsor.

Together,  they represent four major rivers of the four continents through which papal authority had spread: the Nile representing Africa, the Danube representing Europe, the Ganges representing Asia, and the Río de la Plata representing America.

Off to Lunch - Tomato Pasta, Pork Chop with potatoes and tiramisu. Super love their tiramisu. Shall trial and error for my own receipe.

The Altare della Patria

Known as the Monumento Nazionale a Vittorio Emanuele II or "Il Vittoriano" is a monument built in honour of Victor Emmanuel, the first king of a unified Italy, located in Rome, Italy. Didn't get a chance to get down the bus so got to get a snap through the windows of the bus.

Next roaming the streets of Rome.

Piazza di Spagna (Spanish Square)

Had an hour of shopping here but you can't achieve much in an hour. But I'm glad I decided to get my Valentino in Rome 'cause when I reached Paris seems like everything is gone at the Galeries Lafayette. Wanted to get a pair of shoes but ended up with a bag. Guess the bag is more worthy >.<

Next day - Florence, Pisa | Leaning Tower

Il Duomo - Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore

Enough of photo taking we continued on to Piazza della Signoria, the heart of the historic center and a free open-air sculpture exhibit.

Last stop in Italy was Venice, a place that I've always dream of going. Always wanted to go there with someone I love but now I've been there with my parents and I guess once is enough for this lifetime.

 Bridge of Sighs

Saint Mark's Basilica

Piazza San Marco

Best view ever

Till the next time Italy, next stop will be Austria. xoxo
